Preliminary Schedule for CCS 2009 Workshop

The following is a preliminary schedule for the CCS 2009 Workshop at CHI 2009. Content is still loose, but we want to provide time-and-place information at this point to help participants with their travel schedules. The workshop is on Saturday, April 4th, but we’re also planning to organize informal get-togethers on April 3rd and April 5th for participants who are already/still in town. We won’t likely have this group together very often; we figure it would be nice to maximize the time participants can spend discussing the field. Note that no meals other than the coffee breaks are paid for by the workshop.

Friday, April 3rd

7pm–7:30pm

Meet in Sheraton Lobby

Informally meet for coffee. Hang out and be creative.

Saturday, April 4th, Hynes Convention Center, Room 207

8am	Convention center opens
9am	Workshop starts, introductions, overview
9:20am	Short presentations of participants’ work and interests. Two minutes of presentation plus two minutes of questions per submission.
10:20am	Introduce breakout design activity (groups of about give participants), in which we will ideate world-rocking creativity support apps
10:30am	Coffee break, shared with all workshops, meet other interesting CHI folks
11am	Continue group design activity, keep innovating brilliant creativity support tools. Possibly have dramatic group conflict like on American Idol’s “Hollywood Week”.
12pm	Lunch as a group, brought in to convention center. Optional concurrent work on design activity.
1pm	Prepare awesome presentations about the brilliant creativity support tools you devised before lunch.
1:30pm	Interactive presentations of creativity support tools (about ten minutes per group).
2:30pm	Group Discussion 1: “Evaluating Creativity Support Tools”
3pm	Group Discussion 2: “Teaching Creativity Support Tools: Courses, Degree Programs, etc.”
3:30pm	Coffee break, shared with all workshops, meet other interesting CHI folks
4pm	Group Discussion 3: “Relevant Publication Venues and Software Resources”
4:30pm	Group Discussion 4: “Funding for Research on Computer-Based Creativity Support Tools”
4:50pm	Wrap up, summarize, talk about things to see at CHI.
5:15pm	Estimated end time
6pm	Hard stop, conference center closes
7:30pm	Participants not leaving Saturday night informally get together for dinner
